Emergency Medical Services-Paramedic Certificate

The Paramedic Certificate is designed to prepare competent professionals for a career in the field of Emergency Medical Services (EMS). The attainment of a Paramedic certificate will open job opportunity doors for the entry level paramedics who want to work toward career advancement over time and for veteran paramedics who need the credential to advance in the field. Admission Requirements

The EMS Paramedic program has specific admission requirements:

• Be admitted to the college.

• Apply to the program

• Be currently licensed as an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician in the 天美传媒 of Tennessee. Students must submit a copy of a current Tennessee AEMT license to the Paramedic Program.

• Applicant will be required to take an entrance exam.

• Applicant will be required to participate in an oral interview.

• A copy of the CPR healthcare provider level certificate must be submitted that includes one-person, two-person, infant and child CPR.

• Complete a physical exam, along with all required immunizations and/or titers. 

 

Estimated Costs

The JSCC Paramedic program has the option of an Associate of Applied Science degree, based on 60 credit hours of work. There are 17 general education credits required and 43 core program credits required for successful completion of the degree. A student can choose to get the Paramedic Certificate without obtaining, or, before obtaining, an associate’s degree. The estimated costs listed below is representative of the Paramedic Certificate program. Pursuing the associate’s degree will incur more costs for the required general education classes.

Paramedic Program Performance

CAAHEP Accredited Paramedic Programs and CoAEMSP Letter of Review (LoR) Programs track and report outcome measures annually to the Committee on Accreditation for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP).

The most current CoAEMSP Annual Report was for the calendar year 2024.

The most recent success rate for the National Registry of EMT Paramedic/天美传媒 Cognitive exam was 90%.

Positive placement is defined by the CoAEMSP as ‘Employed full or part-time in a related field and/or continuing his/her education and/or serving in the military’.  Positive placement is measured at completion of the program. The most recent positive placement rate for graduates was 100%. 

The most recent retention rate was 77%.
